Our Guests Love The Solar Bungalow!
-
Sandy and I just finished 3 wonderful weeks on Eleuthera at Solar Bungalow and we want to share our joy. For those of you who have yet to visit this beautiful island there is a term coined here, “Its not for everyone” . One of the reasons, its not for everyone, is that the island has daily, planned and unplanned, rolling power outages. No power means, no water, no cooking, no lights, no communications and no wifi. Over a period time, while on vacation, it gets old. Staying at Solar Bungalow, that part of island life does not exist. Coming back from the beach to make a meal anytime of the day, while stepping out to the garden to grab a sprig of basil, rosemary or dill, some tomatoes or scallions, to add to the plate is such a luxury. Enjoying our meal at the kitchen table or a card game from the outside patio while at the same time watching the sun set over the ocean horizon is a daily routine we are going to miss. At night, the blustery trade winds overhead stir the branches of the Banana, Bread Fruit and Palm trees of Shannon’s garden, just outside your bedroom windows, creating a tropical meditation of tones. We had a sensational stay and we have already locked in for next year. Shannon and Bruce, thanks again.

This is an absolute gem - grab it if you can!! Shannon is the ultimate host, and her small bungalow is fantastic. Sat on a clifftop overlooking the Caribbean side of the Elutheran coastline the view is absolutely stunning. If you by chance cannot find anything else to do while on Eluthera, just sitting on the porch overlooking the sea with a glass and a book is a perfect combination. Shannon is the caring and very helpful. She will ensure you have a great stay and gives you advice on things to do on the island - there are very few things she does not know.

Shannon and Bruce’s place is great. One of the best stocked kitchens we’ve ever visited, with actual sharp knives (rare). Fresh fruit and herbs from the garden, used the grill which was great. Very comfy furnishings and all you need for the beach, too. You can walk to a great Caribbean side jump in point (not sandy but convenient) and we walked to the Atlantic for a nice swim and jog on the beach. Convenient location to drive anywhere North Eleuthera, and they give lots of help on where to go. Attentive and responsive hosts who take care of the place. The cats are also friendly and great too. We enjoyed our stay and will do it again, and hope to sail next time.

Can’t say enough about Shannon & Bruce’s hospitality, knowledge of local area, recommendations, and advice! If you wish to get immersed in Eleuthera, they are the peeps to know. Wonderful views from cottage, very spacious, plenty of amenities, and convenient walk to water. So glad they are solar powered as power outages are common on Eleuthera—we did not have a blip. We went to heaven over the fresh veggies and fruits in and around Shannon’s garden. Cottage very close to Governor’s Harbour, Twin Coves Beach, and Tippy’s where you can have an amazing beach walk. Sunsets were true Caribbean spectaculars! Highly recommend this stay if you wish to relax and soak up “island time.”

Would rate my stay an 11/10 if I could! Shannon and Bruce were amazing hosts. Shannon went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a perfect experience. Excellent communication, great recommendations, and such a kind and fun personality! The house has breathtaking views, easy access to Governors Harbor, and everything you could possibly need for a day trip to any of the amazing beaches or adventures Eleuthera has to offer. But most importantly…SOLAR. Didn’t realize how much we would need this - the power on the island was out during a large portion of our trip, so having solar power and Starlink allowed us to Netflix and chill after our days adventures, whereas, we would be SOL if we were staying elsewhere. We will definitely be returning and staying here again, can’t recommend this place enough!
